W&L #34 on Forbes's America's Best Colleges List
We’re #34 in overall America’s Best Colleges.
We’re #31 in American Private Colleges.
And, we’re number #3 in Best Colleges of the South.
I find the Forbes list to be by far the most impressive than the so called “Hottest Colleges” list. Again, as I’ve said, you may have never ever heard of it but Washington and Lee is a legitimate academic school.

Those soda fountain machines found in restaurants and fast food joints may be squirting out liquids contaminated with fecal bacteria, a small study found. Whether it was self-serve or behind the counter, nearly half of all sodas dispensed from a sample of 30 machines in the Roanoke Valley in Virginia had coliform bacteria...

The Uniform: Part 1
dapperdemeanor:
C. Benjamin: I went to college and currently work in the American south. If one thing is certain, its that men down here WILL own a navy blazer and a pair of khaki pants. For a while, I despised the combination. I saw it as a lazy alternative to a suit and a uniform of members of the “Good Old Boy” club. While there maybe some truth to the second part, I have learn to...

Whether you’re a Flaming Lips fan or not, it’s safe to say you’d have a great time celebrating New Year’s Eve (or any holiday really) with the pseudo-psychedelic rockers. But if you’re like me, and weren’t able to make the drive to Oklahoma City for this/last year’s “Freakout,” the band have uploaded a couple fun consolation prizes to their official YouTube channel.
The first is...

NBC to Conan: Take 12am or Leave →

The Jay Leno Show to move to 11:30, scale back to half an hour, then be followed by Conan and The Tonight Show at midnight?
No, I’m not a big fan of the show. But, all of these TV political games intrigue me. It’s as if they didn’t even give Conan a fair chance to do well. By giving Jay a show at 10 PM, NBC sabotaged its own late night show.

Tired of corporate studio ploys to hinder what’s good for the consumer. Look, if I wanted to buy the DVD, I would buy it. I’m renting it because the movie isn’t good enough for me to spend 20 or more for it to sit on my DVD shelf.
How to Escape Consumerism - wikiHow →
Hmm…this is interesting.
I just got back from dinner with an old friend. It was nice seeing him again. But, I couldn’t help but feel a little sad. At one point we were good friends. Now, we’re friends that check in once in a blue moon. I’m seriously terrible at sustaining friendships over distance and time. Bummer.

Did you choose to attend W&L, or did someone make the choice for you?
Ha ha. I wanted to go to Vassar. But, W&L gave me a little more money. So, in a way, the choice was made for me. However, I did like the campus when I came to visit. So, I wasn’t upset at all. I was just happy to go to college out of Oklahoma.
